Everyone likes to be comfortable. Whether that means great food, a comfortable couch, staying home from work, or whatever, we like to be comfortable.

But some people are lazy, or addicted to food, drugs, or other things to the extent that they are harming themselves.
Other people go to the opposite extreme and are so self-denying that they don’t have enough fun and cause problems for themselves and their loved ones.
Balance is the goal.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” Marianne Williamson
I have seen this quote in many different places and used to agree with it and at the same time disagree. But then I read a quote from my friend’s psychology book. It said that change creates loss. Even if the change is positive, we have to let go of something. We fear failure and we fear success. Some people fear success because they will lose something from it. They might fear that if they are wildly successful they will lose the lifestyle they have now that they are comfortable with.
Many people fear change because they don’t know what lies ahead for them after the change.
Here is the rest of the powerful quotation by Marianne Williamson:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
